Party Marty here! TGIF! It’s playtime! Thanks for checking in with us today. I know how much you look forward to my posts. After all, it’s not every day you get to read a cool blog penned by a cat! Since it is Friday and I am ready to rock and roll (code for eat and sleep!), I wanted to dish on a topic near and dear to my heart: Reasons why you should play with your cat! Of course, if every cat was like me, it’d be obvious as to why you should play with your cat: pure entertainment and joy!
According to the purrcompany.com, there are a host of reasons why you should engage in play with your feline friend.
First and foremost, it reinforces the bond you have with him. You are not just a food and water source, but also a friend. Play with us and we just might greet you warmly when you come home at the end of the day! While there are no solid guarantees that we will see you as the true object of our affections, interactive play time with us will steer us toward that possibility!
When you play with your cat, you can help manage his weight. (I have a nice figure, so no worries there!). Of course, feeding your cat a proper and balanced diet helps, but exercise is also a key part of the equation.
Further, when you play with your cat, it instills a sense of confidence within him. Plus, play coupled with regular petting sessions, will get your cat used to human interaction.
Additionally, when you engage in play with your cat, it will help enhance his hunting abilities. When cats are confined indoors, they have little opportunity to express and develop this instinct. When you engage your cat with an interactive cat toy, it will encourage him to go for the “kill!”
And regular play with your cat can put a damper on aggression that is associated with boredom. Let your cat take out his aggression on a toy, not on your furniture! Just sayin’!
Let’s face it! Play time is fun! But also know where to draw the line. Naps are important, too, especially for me! I feel one coming on now, so thanks for stopping by and I will see you next week sometime!
