What to Do When Your Dog’s Breath is an Assault on the Senses!

Party Marty here! It is FRIDAY! My favorite day of the week! I love the weekends! I was made for them!
As you know, I love to make use of my time on this blog to talk primarily about dogs. Even though I am a cat, I am an expert when it comes to dogs. You see, I rule the roost here in the house because I am the King. That mangy mutt Jessie must defer to my every wish and command. You know what they say, “Cats rule; dogs drool.” It is what it is.
My engaging topic for today is dog breath. Yeah. I know. Gross. When you own a dog, however, it usually comes with the territory. I don’t have this problem. My mouth is always minty-fresh and I intend to keep it that way. Cats are known for their self-grooming behaviors, and I always go above and beyond that end, making sure only sweetness flows from this mouth!
So, if your dog does have a foul odor flowing from his mouth, what can you do to reduce that overwhelming assault on the senses?
According to pawnation.com, it is important to have your dog’s teeth checked one or two times a year by your veterinarian. He or she may ask you questions about your dog’s diet, oral hygiene and general behavior. The vet will also make sure to thoroughly check your dog’s mouth for any abnormalities.
Make sure to routinely check your dog’s mouth for any foreign objects or growths that may be harboring bacteria and creating the foul odor.
Brush your dog’s teeth at least once a day, too, clearing the upper teeth first as that is where plaque tends to be most significant. Be sure to start this habit when your dog is young so he will get used to it. You might even consider flossing your dog’s teeth if he will let you!
Provide some safe and fun chew toys for your dog to gnaw on, as these will naturally aid in keeping your dog’s teeth clean and healthy.
Make sure to provide your dog with a healthy and balanced diet – vegetable nutrients, rice and meat.
As with anything regarding your dog’s health, please be sure to consult with your veterinarian with any questions or concerns. They know what is best for your dog.
Have a great day and I will catch you all later!
