The Top Dog Breeds for 2012 Were…….

Bolt, Yorkie-Poo guest blogger, providing the scoop on the…drum roll please…most popular dog breeds of 2012:
According to the American Kennel Club, 2012 was the year of the Big Dog! Now, at my size, I take issue with that, as I’d like to think my cute little face, furry little paws and nearly pocket-size portability would lend themselves to instant fame, but evidently, the recent polls suggest otherwise. However, bear in mind that I can run circles around these big dogs…as well as under them….so consider the smaller breeds still in the running…maybe for 2013!
At any rate, the top three dog breeds for 2012 were the Labrador Retriever, the German Shepherd and the Golden Retriever. Nabbing the fourth spot was the Beagle, followed by the Bulldog, who managed to muscle his way in after years of being off the list.
According to the AKC, families like to have a dog with which the kids can romp and play, and big dogs seem to fit the bill in that regard. I say, go for it, but at the end of a busy day, wouldn’t you really love to snuggle on the couch with your lap dog…you know…a dog that can actually curl up on your lap and not overwhelm you? I’m just sayin’…..
Thanks….and Happy Friday!
