Pumpkin Dog Treat Recipe

Yesterday, I wrote about the health benefits of pumpkin for our pets and us. Below is a dog treat recipe I found online some time back. It’s easy to make and most dogs I’ve given them to love them!
Pumpkin Dog Treats
1 15 oz. can pumpkin (be sure it’s pumpkin and not pumpkin pie mix)
3/4 cup Cream of Rice cereal
1/2 cup powered dry milk
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Mix all ingredients, then drop by small spoonfuls on greased cookie sheet. I use parchment paper and it makes clean up easier.
Bake for 15-20 minutes.
These treats are a bit moist and they don’t have preservatives, so they keep best if stored in airtight container in refrigerator. This recipe makes a large batch, so if you won’t be feeding within a few days, store them in airtight container in freezer and take out what you’ll need.
Since pumpkin does have a high degree of fiber, feed very small amounts initially to be sure your dog can tolerate them. Start with 1/4 treat per day for small breeds, 1/2 treat daily for large breeds.
