A Dog Would Never Presume to Break Your Heart…But Some Have Broken a Few Records!

Jessie, reflecting on life with dogs on this rainy, overcast day: Dogs are awesome. What can I say? Being one, it makes sense I would proclaim such a statement, but I can also say this because that mangy cat Marty is not within earshot.

Dogs do incredible things day in and day out. They love you unconditionally. They greet you with enthusiasm when you come home at the end of the day. And some of them will only chew one of your shoes as they feel they are being considerate by leaving the other one just for you!  Some dogs may get excited and romp around a bit. They may break a lamp or a pair of glasses because of their enthusiasm. They don’t intentionally do it. It just happens.

And the there are those dogs that break other things…like records!  World records, that is! There are also some amazing record breaking dogs out there.

For example…

The world’s largest dog was an Old English Mastiff named Zorba. In 1989 he won this distinction, weighing in at 343 pounds and measuring eight feet and three inches long!

The world’s tallest dog to date is Shamgret Danzas, standing in at 42 inches tall and weighing in at 238 pounds.

The world’s smallest dog on record was a Yorkie from Blackburn, England. Fully grown, he was but a mere two and a half inches and his body weight was four ounces. He could rest in the palm of one’s hand!

The world’s oldest dog on record was an Australian cattle dog by the name of Bluey. He lived until the ripe old age of 29!

Then there were the world’s best drug sniffing dogs – Rocky and Barco. They were able to detect drugs from miles away. They spent many days patrolling the Texas/Mexico border, breaking up numerous rackets that rumor has it some drug dealers put a price of $30,000 on each of their heads! WOW!
