Marty, What Did You Eat Now?

Today was more exciting than I anticipated! Marty, ever the crazy cat, was tearing around the house this morning and I noticed he had a little ribbon in his mouth.

I tried to get to him to grab the ribbon before he had a chance to swallow it, but unfortunately I was too late. After a wild time getting him into his carrier, we were off to the vet’s office.

If you have a cat that loves to eat things that aren’t food, do not induce vomiting or attempt to pull the item out of your cat’s mouth. Contact your vet to determine the best course of action. Many items pass through the intestinal tract without causing problems, but things like dental floss can break into pieces with sharp edges that can cut the intestines and potentially cause serious injury.

It appears Marty will be ok, the ribbon he so craved earlier today will pass through with a little help from some laxative and a high fiber diet for a few days.

Note to self for future reference….hide anything resembling string or ribbon to prevent another crazy Marty episode!
